Richmond Youth Media Program
The Richmond Youth Media Program (RYMP) is a free referral-based program for youth, presented in partnership with Richmond Addiction Services Society (RASS) and supported by the Vancouver Coastal Health Sharon Martin Community Health (SMART) Fund. Participants learn media literacy skills that are relevant to their interests in a supportive environment during weekly drop-ins.
Anyone can refer youth (13-24 years) to the Richmond Youth Media Program, including youth themselves. References will be asked to complete a referral form and arrange a meeting with a Youth Outreach Worker. As a RYMP member, you get added to a weekly newsletter email list, volunteer opportunities, and gigs + opportunities utilizing your digital media art skills.
*Youth can drop in and check out the program without a referral.

Youth Drop-Ins
The Richmond Youth Media Program (RYMP) is facilitated by two Youth Outreach Workers and runs weekly drop-ins for youth aged 13 to 24 years old.
At our drop-ins you can utilize the suite of equipment the Richmond Media Lab has to offer: 3D printing, Cricut crafting, button making, sewing, photo and video cameras, music equipment, recording studio, and iOS and MacOS devices for digital apps like Procreate, Adobe Suite, Affinity, Logic Pro, and more!
Drop-ins are a safe, welcoming space for youth to socialize, work independently on creative projects, or seek support from supportive adults in their community.
Sessions run year round including during Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks.

RYMP Drop-Ins
Learn digital media skills, work on projects, socialize with youth and staff, grab a snack, and more! We also host skill sessions where youth learn skills from professionals and instructors in various fields.

Create Space
Create Space is a free drop-in program for youth to explore and create a wide variety of art and crafts. From textile art and traditional crafts to digital arts and 3D printing, this program offers endless creative opportunities.
Wednesday 3PM to 6PM
Music Jam Session
Jam Session is a free drop-in program where youth have the opportunity to record their own tracks, DJ, and collaborate or jam with other youth. No prior experience is necessary, and we have guitars, bass, drums, and keyboard available.
3rd Friday of Every Month | 5PM to 8PM
Film Club
The Film Club is a free drop-in program for youth ages 16 to 24, offering a safe and welcoming space to watch films, explore the art of filmmaking, develop creative skills, and connect with other youth film enthusiasts.
2nd + 4th Friday of Every Month | 5PM to 8PM
Youth Gigs & Opportunities
As a RYMP Member, you will be connected to a network of community partners and youth serving organizations within the City of Richmond that seek youth talent for gigs and opportunities. As you develop your skills in digital media art, RYMP staff connect youth to volunteer, or paid opportunities from community partners seeking youth talent in:

The RYMP Program also hosts a number of events throughout the year which engage with the general public to showcase youth talent in Richmond!
Mic Drop
A free open mic night for children and youth under 25 to share their talents, and perform in a supportive and welcoming environment.
First Friday of Every Month
5PM to 8PM
Youth Art Mart
The Youth Art Mart showcases and sells artwork created by youth. This event provides a platform for youth to share their creativity and gain experience. All proceeds from artwork sales go directly to the youth artists.
