FAQ
What programs and apps does the Media Lab use?
The media lab uses Procreate for illustration, Procreate Dreams for animation, and Stop-Motion Studio for stop-motion animation and Claymation. Photo editing is done with Photoshop or Affinity Photo, and video editing is done with DaVinci Resolve. Most of these apps are low cost or free, and available to download from the Apple App store.

Why aren’t there any files under my child’s name?
The media lab instructors do their best to encourage children to save their work, however some children do not wish to keep their projects after they are finished. Some projects are printed as stickers or photos, so students may have chosen to delete their original files.

Why can’t I open the file?
Project files are saved by students during the course in order to back up their work, and are saved in the project format of the software they are using, for example Procreate, Dreams, or Stop-motion studio. You will need the original programs to access the files, but should you have these programs or apps, the students can access their original projects. We do our best to encourage students to export their projects as .jpg, .png, or .mov files when completed so they can be shared.
